On a fresh Arch install some fonts are not installed so xfce terminal will have letter overlapping to fix them simply install the following fonts
ttf-dejavu
ttf-liberation
ttf-droid
Now change the font in Xfce Terminal to any of the installed fonts. I use [c]DejaVu Sans Mono Book[/c]
